This workshop is free to participants, primarily aimed at forest landowners, emergency responders, and anyone who operates a chainsaw. This course covers all aspects for BSA certification requirements and is a requirement to run a chainsaw on any BSA properties. Lunch will be provided.
Dana Hinkley, of Berlin, NH, has done numerous safety workshops for ATPA in AR, OK and TX and across the nation since 2001, including several for BSA certification. Hinkley is the president of Logger Rescue, Inc., a nationally recognized training program, and is a member of the Stihl Chainsaw advisory team for logging safety instruction.

9:00 am Safety & Handling Aspects of Operating a Chain Saw – this session will feature Dana Hinkley.
Dana will cover all safety and handling aspects of operation of a chain saw, sharpening techniques, tricks of the trade, along with the vital importance of wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times in the log woods.
12:00 – 1:00 LUNCH- provided by Quapaw Area Council BSA.
1:00-3:00 pm Tree Felling Demonstration –
Dana will demonstrate a "hands-on" technique for safe felling and how to handle difficult trees and storm damaged trees.

This program counts for 6 hours of Continuing Logger Education credit for Ark Pro Loggers and foresters and meets all requirements for chainsaw safety certification for the BSA.
