White River District Calendar of Events:

11th – 6:30 PM District Committee Meeting = We will be meeting at FUMC in Searcy for those who would like to attend, and their will also be a link for a ZOOM meeting for those who cannot attend in person.

14th-15thPinnacle District will be hosting Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills and Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation.

 

Welcome New Unit Troop 6258:

The White River District would like to welcome Troop 6258, our newest female troop, to the Quapaw Area Council.  The unit is out of the Salem area and is being sponsored by the Spring River Shriners Club.  The troop will be led by Mrs. Heather Slayter.  We look forward to all the great thing to come with this unit.

 

Outdoor Leader Training:

The Pinnacle District will be hosting Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS) and Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) at Maumelle Park in Little Rock.  The course will begin at 5:30pm on Friday the 14th and end on Saturday the 15th at about 4:00pm. This course is an introduction for participants in outdoor skills. This is a required course for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and Venturing Crew Leaders. For Cub Scout units, it is required that one person on a Cub Scout campout be BALOO trained.

 

BALOO does have an online prerequisite that MUST be taken before you arrive.  YPT and Hazardous Weather training MUST be current as well.

 

Location:  Maumelle Park in Little Rock

Dates:  May 14th-15th, 2021

Cost: $10.00

 

Day Camp 2021:

The White River District will be having Day Camp jointly this year with Crowley’s Ridge.  The camp will be held at Crowley’s Ridge State Park the last week of July.  More information to come in the next few weeks.

The White River District would like to thank Chris Underwood.  Chris and his family are new to the area and Chris has been a big help to the units in the Salem area.  Chris played a big role in securing the Charter Partner for Troop 639 and Troop 258.  Thank you, Chris.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

 

Friends of Scouting:

The White River District is proud to have Stacy Gunderman returning as our Friends of Scouting Chairman for 2021.  Stacy is the Director of Administration at FutureFuel Chemical Company.  So far, we have raised $9053.00 of our $24,000 goal.  We look forward to a successful Family Friends of Scouting Campaign.
